Accessibility Statement
Our Commitment
Valley Legal is committed to making its website accessible to people with disabilities. We aim to conform to Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA as our implementation target.
We believe that accessible web design benefits all users, not only those with disabilities, and we treat accessibility as an ongoing priority rather than a one-time effort.
Technical Approach
We have implemented the following accessibility features on this site:
- Skip navigation link: A "skip to main content" link appears at the top of every page for keyboard users.
- Semantic HTML landmarks: Pages use proper landmark regions (header, nav, main, footer, aside) to aid screen reader navigation.
- Heading hierarchy: Each page uses a logical heading structure to convey document organization.
- Keyboard navigation: All interactive elements are reachable and operable by keyboard.
- Visible focus indicators: Focused elements display a clearly visible focus ring.
- Color contrast: Text and interface elements are designed to meet or exceed the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast ratio requirements (4.5:1 for normal text, 3:1 for large text).
- Alternative text: Meaningful images include descriptive alternative text; decorative images are marked accordingly.
- Accessible forms: Form inputs are associated with visible labels, and error messages are announced to assistive technology.
- Mobile accessibility: The site is responsive and functional across a range of screen sizes and touch-based devices.
- Reduced motion: Animations and transitions are suppressed for users who have enabled the "prefer reduced motion" system setting.
- No autoplay: The site does not use autoplay video or audio.
- Accessible navigation menu: The mobile navigation menu uses proper ARIA attributes and keyboard event handling, including Escape-key dismissal.
- Accessible accordion FAQ: The FAQ section uses an accessible button-based accordion with correct ARIA expanded states.
- Consent banner accessibility: The cookie consent banner is keyboard accessible and screen-reader announced.
Known Limitations
We work continuously to improve accessibility. The following limitations or areas of ongoing review have been identified:
- Third-party integrations: If third-party tools are integrated in the future (e.g., scheduling widgets, chat tools), their accessibility may be outside our direct control. We will evaluate accessibility before adding any third-party component.
- PDF documents: Any PDF documents linked from this site may not be fully accessible. If you need an accessible version of a linked document, please contact us and we will make reasonable efforts to provide an alternative.
Conformance Status
This site is designed to conform to WCAG 2.2 Level AA as our implementation target. We have conducted design-level and code-level review to address accessibility requirements. However, we have not completed a formal third-party accessibility audit. Full conformance cannot be claimed without such an audit.
We encourage users to report any accessibility barriers they encounter so we can address them promptly.
